The Government is currently consulting on changes to the Building Regulations for 2020. This is an important consultation for anyone involved in the design, specification or installation of heating systems as it sets out how the standards for new homes will change over the next year looking towards the 2025 Future Homes Standard.
The Future Homes Standard will require new build homes to be future-proofed with low carbon heating and world-leading levels of energy efficiency. The consultation is proposing new emissions factors and changes to the Standard Assessment Procedure and required flow temperatures which will all impact the decisions made by housebuilders and homeowners considering a heating system replacement.
NIBE Energy Systems will be submitting a detailed response, however we encourage you to respond to the consultation highlighting the need or greater ambition and the role heat pumps can play in delivering low carbon heat to new homes. The deadline for submitting your feedback on the proposals is the 7th February. If you have any questions about how the proposed changes might impact you, please contact us.
In 2020, the Government will also consult on changing the
standards for existing homes and non-domestic buildings. We will let you know when these consultations are published.
