NIBE Energy Systems Limited has been successfully appointed to the Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s (GMCA) £1.5bn Net Zero Housing Retrofit Framework Agreement, as a supplier under Lot 1 (Supply of Heat Pump systems and associated components) and Lot 2 (Controls & Monitors). This landmark procurement framework aims to drive decarbonisation across Greater Manchester’s housing stock between 2025 and 2030, with the installation of 64,000 low carbon heating systems – including 54,000 domestic installations.
NIBE’s inclusion as a key supplier recognises the company’s ongoing leadership in delivering high-performance, energy-efficient heat pump technology to the UK housing market. The framework will be the primary route through which local authorities and registered housing providers across Greater Manchester procure low-carbon heating systems and supporting technologies over the next five years.
“We are proud to be part of this significant regional initiative,” said Robin Adderley, Sales Director of NIBE UK. “Decarbonising homes at scale is critical to achieving the UK’s net zero goals, and Greater Manchester is leading the way. Our participation on Lots 1 and 2 ensures housing providers have access to best-in-class heat pump technology and smart control systems to meet the growing demand for efficient, future-proofed homes.”
As part of this wider commitment, NIBE has also joined the GM Low Carbon Heating Industry Group, a collaborative initiative convened by GMCA to bring together industry manufacturers and installers to support the delivery of the city-region’s Five-Year Environment Plan (5YEP). The group aims to foster innovation, promote skills development, and accelerate the rollout of clean heating solutions across the region.
With a target to reach carbon neutrality by 2038, Greater Manchester is building on successful partnerships and forward-thinking policy to stimulate local market growth.
NIBE’s appointment aligns with its broader mission to lead the heat pump sector through quality, innovation, and collaboration - helping regions like Greater Manchester transform their housing stock and meet ambitious environmental targets.
