Tomorrow's heating is already here
A solution that saves money and protects the environment - that's exactly what a NIBE heat pump offers. By utilising the energy found for free in nature, our heat pumps can deliver up to five times more energy than they consume. Over the past forty years we have refined every detail using the harsh Swedish winter as our testing ground, so that our heat pumps can meet the challenges of tomorrow. Built-in smart technology adapts to the weather outside and the requirements of the house, giving you comfort in any environment.
As the years have gone by we've been working hard doing what we always do - creating more efficient, quieter, and more environmentally friendly heat pumps that have stood the test of time in Sweden. We're ready to share this technology here in the UK.
What's in it for me?
The level of comfort a heat pump provides compared to a boiler system is incomparable. A heat pump will keep your house at a constant temperature all day, all year round, regardless of the weather outside. At the same time, it’s running at up to five times more efficient than a boiler.
Why should I change now?
Grants from the government and energy companies providing heat pump specific tariffs mean that installing a heat pump is becoming cheaper and cheaper. Combine a heat pump with an electric car and solar panels and you’ve got a really cheap to run, efficient heating system.
How does a heat pump work?
Heat pumps are very different to gas and oil boilers. What’s needed to install and maintain them is very important to be aware of before having one installed. Installing the wrong kind of heat pump could be costly, just as purchasing the wrong kind of car could be.
How do I buy a heat pump?
How much money will a heat pump save you?
Please note this calculator only provides an estimate of the costs you might save, it is not a guarantee. If you'd like more accurate information please speak to an installer, who can provide a heat loss calculation specific to your property.
The basis for this calculation:
The calculator is based on the following assumptions: The heat pump system will have a seasonal performance factor of 3.8 with a radiator system and 4.0 with an underfloor heating system. Depending on your choice of heat pump, sizing and quality of installation, this number could be higher or lower. CO2 saving is calculated using CO2 emissions per kWh of energy type. The data for this is taken from a government publication: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/greenhouse-gas-reporting-conversion-factors-2023 Find data here on energy prices for electricity, natural gas and heating oil, along with average usage in the UK: https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/energy-price-cap https://www.ons.gov.uk/economy/inflationandpriceindices/timeseries/kj5u/mm23 https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/average-gas-and-electricity-usage We intend this calculator to act as a guide for how much you can save. It is not a guarantee. For greater detail, please speak to an installer who will be able to advise you further. Not sure what numbers to plug in?
The price cap for electricity in the UK is currently 24.5p, while the price cap for natural gas is 6.24p per kWh. Heating oil average price is currently 60p per Litre.
You could pay a lot less than this for electricity with a heat pump tariff!
Did you know?
Ovo Energy offer a heat pump tariff where you'd pay 15p per kWh of electricity used by your heat pump.
Try it in the calculator to see what you could save!
More on heat pump tariffs...
Octopus Energy also offer a heat pump tariff where you'd pay 51% less than your day rate at off peak hours. This translates to 12.5p per kWh of electricity used by your heat pump!
*correct as of November 2024. Data provided by the UK Government.
Not sure of your usage? Here's a handy table
Example - home type and number of residents | Typical annual gas use (kWh) | Typical annual electricity use (kWh) |
---|---|---|
Flat or 1-bedroom house; 1 to 2 people | 7,500 | 2,200 |
2-3 bedroom house; 2 to 3 people | 11,500 | 3,900 |
4+ bedroom home; 4 to 5 people | 17,000 | 6,700 |
