BPEC Heat Pump Course 2020


NIBE Energy Systems has launched its British Plumbing Employers Council (BPEC) heat pump course, an industry recognised qualification which is required for installers to become or retain MCS accreditation at its training facility in Chesterfield.

The three day course covers:

  • Heat pumps in context.
  • How a Heat pump works – principles and components
  • Insulation, heat losses and the effect of heating system design
  • Domestic hot water, buffer tanks and solar coils
  • Ground heat exchangers
  • Health and Safety
  • Heat pump installation
  • Maintenance and fault finding
  • Plus an appendix containing reference charts for ground heat exchanger design.

Trainees should have a minimum NVQ Level 2/3 qualification in plumbing or conventional heating engineering, or a demonstrable a number of years of relevant experience, plus Water Regulations/Byelaws and Energy Efficiency certificates. However, the course is also available to those that are currently working towards such qualifications to allow them to gain specialised training in the newest sector of the industry.
