The water heater consists of a steel vessel with a copper lining, which provides excellent resistance to corrosion. The insulation for the NIBE EKS 500 and NIBE EKS 750 storage tanks is made up of 50 mm polyurethane and the outer shell is made of plastic and can be removed to facilitate work in confined spaces. The water tank´s diameter without insulation is 670 mm.
The heater is intended for vertical installation.
The maximum permissible operating temperature is 95°C.
The NIBE EKS storage water heater can be used as a simple storage tank for hot water, supplied from an external heat exchanger, or for direct heating of the water by means of electric immersion heaters.
In systems having high draw-off rates, storage water heaters often provide the best way of meeting the demand. This presupposes that relatively long heating times can be accepted, and that there is sufficient space for the heater. An advantage of such use is that the installed power demand can be kept down, limiting the total power requirement of the system.
When water is to be heated electrically, the use of storage water heaters is almost always the only feasible alternative, as instantaneous (through-flow) heaters require extremely high power ratings.
The heater is fitted with compression fittings and internally threaded connections. The drain connection is fitted with a spreader plate, and can also be used as a cold water connection.
The cold water pipe must be fitted with the necessary valve equipment in accordance with current norms and directives.
